Our fish pond emerged from the winter full of algae and organic soup. I don’t know how they managed to breathe in it. So we emptied it and cleaned it yesterday, and returned the fish today. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it this clean, and it probably won’t be so again for a long time. Last year we had 49 fish — way too many for this size pond — but now they’re down to a more maneagable 26. This includes one very new one note even gold yet and several that must be 6 years old, put in when we built it.
That is pretty darn clean. I have lot’s of work to do to my pond to get it that clear!
The water had just been emptied and largely replaced. The clarity did not last long. Although I have a pump, filter and oxygenating plants, I can’t seem to stay ahead of the algae!
