Updated Fall, 2010:
I’m very happy to have joined the staff of WHQR Public Radio in Wilmington, North Carolina, as Station Manager.
WHQR’s hallmark is its strong community engagement. I have been exceptionally well treated by the staff and board of WHQR and by the citizens of Wilmington. I’m still getting around the area, seeing as many sights and meeting as many people as I can.
Many of the posts in this blog since August have been about discovering Wilmington and this area. Beaches, Southern food, a dynamic cultural life and a vibrant, historic downtown — what’s not to like? It’s been great fun, the station is doing very well, and I’m looking forward to working with everyone here to make it the best it can be.

I just heard that you are retiring. Cleve I remember when we meet years ago and discussed what ideas I could suggest to you. You probably do not remember, but you took some of those ideas and ran with them. You made the Wilmington area more meaningful, dependent and help place it on the map. You are a true gem and it might be impossible to replace your talent, vision and abilities. No matter what you do next, I wish you the best and many more years of happiness and good health.
Sincerely,
Thomas Chuvala
Time for me to add a “we miss you in SW Ohio” too … but I also was hoping that due to your location you might find an NPR-like audio project in the return of Mark and Judy Handley to the US after their 6 year circumnavigation. (handleysail.com) Their “log” is terrific and detailed with photo archive … and Mark’s connection to the NPR family a plus. They happened to currently be just a few miles down I-95 and with your audio expertise might make for a very interesting radio or at least audio blog story. Again, you are missed here in SW Ohio, but I still enjoy occasionally reading your blog (I do miss the Helpdesk)..
Cleve. Love your blog. We miss you in Winston Salem. You did a great job at WFDD.
