The elaborate ironwork in this photo comes from the legendary Parisian department store, La Samaritaine, alas now closed. This post has the full photo I took on our trip to France in 2005 with my sister Margaret and her husband Sonny. The rooftop cafe had so-so food, in itself a crime in France, but the best view of the city, which is why Jason Bourne used it in the scene near the end of The Bourne Identity. But we were really sad to hear it was closed just a few months after our trip for “security and renovation,” according to Wikipedia. Let’s hope it really gets renovated.
